After refuelling in Stornaway at the fishing pier we set off for Loch Gairloch on the West Coast mainland at around 7.30am. The wind and tide were set fair for us as a North North West, backing round to a North Westerly, we had a very leisurely downwind sail. We only had a couple of gybes the whole day before motoring in for the last few miles to what is a very spectacular anchorage.
The anchorage at Badachro is stunningly beautiful, the scenery is fantastic and the Badachro Inn is a short dinghy ride from the moorings. The evening weather is also stunning, today is the summer solstice and we have very clear blue sky above. It will be light until very late this evening and the sunset should be impressive.
We arrived at high tide and from the charts we are expecting a 4 meter tidal change. That is a very large change in tide, by far the biggest we have come across up here. We moored in 8 meters of water and the boat need 2 meters clearance, so we should be fine.

The pictures below show a before and after the change from high to low. Shortly after the first picture was taken we watched a small yacht navigate through the passage. Brave or a local!
