Still stuck in Tobermory hiding from the rain, wind and sea state. The Marine Forecast still shows the sea states in the Hebrides and Mallin to be Very Rough all day. The chill factor was so cold yesterday we put the rear canopy up on the cockpit.
We also had a bit of excitement yesterday, when the fridge decided to try to go up in flames. We think somehow the switch that puts the fridge light on and off somehow shorted. Either by jamming on or some liquid getting into it. In either case the halogen lightbulb or electrical arcing inside the fridge melted the entire fitting and a good part of the fridge lid. Fortunately there was no flame, we discovered it by chance and before any real danger could manifest. We have stripped it completely and removed and isolated the light fitting power connections. It looks like the thermostat was not damaged and we still have a working albeit dark and a bit smokey fridge!
We will keep our eye on it and switch it off at night!
Today is the 16th of June and finally the sun has come out, this afternoon the temperature is a balmy 14 degrees! The forecast is for the wind to start dropping around 5 pm tonight, that should allow the sea to calm. Fingers crossed that would let us restart our journey North tomorrow morning.
